PRESS RELEASE: Health Law Strategists Welcomes New Partner, Rachel L. King, Former Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Chief Compliance Officer

ATLANTA – Health Law Strategists (HLS), a female-founded boutique health law firm that intersects complex healthcare law with innovative strategy, is pleased to welcome Rachel L. King as their newest Partner. With more than a decade of comprehensive experience in healthcare policy, law, and compliance, Rachel brings key expertise to the HLS team. Immediately prior to joining HLS, Rachel served as the Chief Compliance Officer at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (Children’s). Prior to her role at Children’s, Rachel served as the General Counsel for the Georgia Department of Community Health , where she provided advice and counsel on matters including proposed legislation, Medicaid administration, health benefit planning, facility licensure, and health planning.

Rachel's prior experience includes several key leadership roles, including General Counsel for both the Georgia Department of Community Health and the Georgia Department of Human Services and, most recently, Chief Compliance Officer of CHOA, the Southeast's largest pediatric hospital system. Her proficiency in navigating the intricate legal landscape of the healthcare industry uniquely positions her to counsel clients on an array of legal, regulatory, and operational matters.

 

As General Counsel of the Georgia Department of Community Health, Rachel provided advice and counsel on a spectrum of healthcare legislation, policies, and regulations. Her area of expertise includes matters such as Medicaid, state health benefit plans, pharmacy services, fraud prevention, health planning, facility licensure, and emergency management. Rachel collaborated closely with state agencies and the Attorney General's office, contributing to the successful closure of critical litigation matters, negotiations, and legal strategies.

 

During her tenure as Executive Director of the Department's Division of Health Planning, Rachel led the administration and operation of the state Certificate of Need (CON) program. She provided crucial input on proposed legislation and administrative rules, reviewed CON decisions, determined policy, and engaged with healthcare providers, suppliers, and legal representatives regarding regulatory compliance.
